My passion for the hills is inextricably tied to the substance from which the mountains are made. As a sculptor, I can enjoy this every time I walk or work in the mountains. The roughness of rock, the hardness of gneiss and granite, the beauty of marble and the purity of quartz.

When I walk in the mountains I add rocks to cairns … this gave me the idea for the DMFF awards – the steenmannen – which I designed and made myself.

I’m also a volunteer for the the film festival, I check the route of the Dutch Mountain Trail, and help out with production and logistics for the event.
