Apollo Kino, Aachen
The Apollo Kino is the central location for the Dutch Mountain Film Festival in Aachen. The cinema is close to the one of Aachen’s famous medieval gates, the Ponttor, at the heart of the city’s thriving nightlife scene. The famous cathedral and town hall, dating back to the time of Charlemagne, are within easy walking distance.

By public transport
From Heerlen bus/railway station: Take Arriva bus #44 (every 30 min) to Aachen Ponttor bus stop, 3 minutes’ walk away from the Apollo (note that the last bus back to Heerlen is at 11.15 p.m.)
From Heerlen railway station: take DB Regional train to Herzogenrath, change in Herzogenrath to the Regional train bound for Aachen Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). Alight at Aachen West railway station, approx. 11 minutes’ walk from the Apollo, or take bus #1 towards Stolberg and alight at Aachen Ponttor bus stop.
From Aachen Hauptbahnhof (main railway station): Bus #13b (every 5 minutes), alight at Aachen Ponttor bus stop, 3 minutes’ walk away
By bike
Apollo Kino is 15 kilometres from the centre of Heerlen. This is a pleasant bike ride through upland scenery between Zuid-Limburg and Aachen, with a couple of steep climbs. There are unattended bike racks close to the cinema.
By car
As the cinema is situated in the middle of a pedestrianised zone, the Apollo Kino can only be used for the dropping-off and picking-up of car passengers. There is limited parking at the APAG Pontstrasse car park, approx. 2 minutes’ walk away, or at Bendplatz / Kühlwetterstraße, approx. 9 minutes’ walk away.
Food and drink
During the festival, Apollo Kino converts its bar into a special ‘Bergstube’.
