Saving Glaciers

Year: 2022

Director: Ciril Jazbec

Playing time: 8'

Language: English

3 November 2022 - 20:15

Every year, glaciologist Dr Felix Keller observes the steady retreat of the Morteratsch glacier in the Swiss Alps. The meltwater forms new melt ponds. One day he asks himself whether this meltwater can be turned back into snow. Together with his team he goes about testing his theories to see if they will work.

It comes as no surprise to find that director Ciril Jazbec also photographs for the National Geographic magazine. His images are breathtaking! He is inspired by people with courage and vision like Dr Keller. Within the space of just a few minutes, Jazbec shows us how Dr Keller – through a passion for the mountains – is working purposefully towards a ‘white’ future.

This film will be screened in one block together with Cracked and Into the Ice.
