An anthropology student is researching the Vaettir, the mythical Protectors of the Mountain in a region of Norway who are able to speak with the dead. She engages a local guide to find the right mountain. Steinar is not altogether happy with her request, but nevertheless takes her into the hills.
Director Carmen Maria and cinematographer Boris Peters both graduated from the Netherlands’ Film Academy last year. Carmen Maria previously followed a film studies programme in Norway and developed a predilection for the Scandinavian view of the world. Carmen Maria made this short film in the time she had available between the production of her two final-year films: a tragicomic family drama and a dark animation film.
