Visitor Information

Oxygen available, no permits required!

Welcome to the Dutch Mountain Film Festival! This international film festival takes place in Heerlen (NL) and Aachen (D), two cities separated by a few hills and an international border. Base camp for the festival in Heerlen is the Royal Theater and in Aachen the Apollo Kino. Below you can find out all you need to know about these cinemas and other festival sites.

Where the mountains begin …

Why not combine a visit to the Dutch Mountain Film Festival with a break in Zuid-Limburg? That way you can see out a day’s walking in the Dutch ‘Mountains’ with a evening of mountain films. Or would you rather try something a little more challenging instead? We have a whole host of adventurous side events just waiting for you.
For example, during the festival you can take part in an MTB training event or the now legendary Summit2Summit Ride.
But you don’t need a film festival as an excuse to visit Zuid-Limburg! There are plenty of activities all year round. Jump on your gravel bike, for example, for our brand new Dutch Mountain Ride. Or why not venture to take you and your bike to the top of the Wilhelminaberg staircase? Would you rather keep your feet on the ground? Climb any of the Seven Summits of Zuid-Limburg or follow (a section of) the famous Dutch Mountain Trail. For sports climbers we have identified the best buildering spots in and around Heerlen for you. See you out there!
